Russia confirms decision on no Antonov jet maintenance in Ukraine
MOSCOW, Sep 9 (PRIME) -- The Russian Industry and Trade Ministry is considering performing maintenance works on Antonov jets produced in Ukraine locally, the ministry said in a statement on Friday.
It said that the Ukrainian manufacturer does not fulfill its obligation to maintain the flight capacity of the aircraft. “In spite of statements by Antonov regarding support of the type certificates, practical efforts concerning the Russian users have been suspended in this area,” the ministry said.
Antonov’s President Alexander Kotsyuba said on Wednesday that Ukraine will try to enforce prohibition for Antonov A-124-100, or Ruslan jets owned by Russian firms to fly in other countries if the owners refuse to carry out maintenance works on the territory of Ukraine.
